President Pavlopoulos underlined need to resist forces that scheme against European construction

"Today we honour the memory of 20,500 soldiers of the Allied Forces of Entente that fell in the Macedonian front and offered their lives as sacrifice to the altar of freedom and to the other fundamental principles of our civilisation. Their sacrifice should inspire us today as the defence of the same principles and values is always timely and imperative as is proved by the crucial condition that prevails in the region of the Balkans and in Europe" said Pavlopoulos.

He referred to both World Wars and noted that the European Union was established to prevent the experience of these nightmares again. However, he said that today there are forces that scheme against the European construction pointing out the need to resist.

Later, Pavlopoulos laid a wreath at the monument of the fallen soldiers.
