Tzanakopoulos: We will soon have official signature to gov't intention not to implement pension cuts
Government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos referring to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' announcements at Thessaloniki International Fair in September on the reduction of Real Estate Property Tax (ENFIA), the relief of professionals with the reduction of the contributions, the rent subsidy and the strengthening of the social state said that they will be implemented in 2018, in an interview with the Sunday newspaper Documento.
In parallel, he appeared certain that "very soon we will have the official signature to the government's intention not to implement the pension cuts measure".
Tzanakopoulos said that the review of the constitution should focus on the protection of the democracy and the popular sovereignty.
Asked on the FYROM name issue and the Prespes Agreement, he said that he is certain that the Greek parliament will ratify the agreement.
He explained that Independent Greeks and their leader Panos Kammenos have stated that if the Agreement comes to the parliament they will withdraw from the government but have not said that they will support a motion of censure tabled by New Democracy.
On the extension of Greece's territorial waters from 6 to 12 nautical miles in the Ionian Sea, Tzanakopoulos said that a draft law instead of presidential decrees will accelerate the implementation of the announcement and in parallel will allow a debate in parliament in order all the political forces to present their positions and examine possible room for convergence.
