Tsipras and Borisov to sign agreement on construction of two major transport projects
"Today we are going to sign with the Bulgarian prime minister a joint declaration that lays out all the steps and the timetables for the implementation of two important projects," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stated on Friday, in joint statements with the other leaders attending the Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia Summit in Varna, Bulgaria.
Tsipras said these projects were the modernisation of the railway link between Alexandroupolis, Burgas and Varna, which along with the train route Thessaloniki-Alexandroupolis "will give us a modern and fast railway network," and a new motorway from the Greek city of Alexandroupolis to the Maritsa region on the Greek-Bulgarian border, where it will join up with the existing roads to Sofia, Varna and Burgas.
"We are also proceeding to establish a joint company that will be responsible for the construction and management of the project" Tsipras said.
