Tsipras and Italian counterpart Conte discuss cooperation in energy, investments

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Conte on the sidelines of the International Conference on Libya taking place in Palermo, Sicily.

The meeting was held late on Monday and was the first between the two prime ministers. According to government sources, the two leaders discussed bilateral ties in the energy sector in the coming period, particularly with regard to the TAP, East Med and Turkish / South Stream pipelines. The IGI Poseidon joint venture recently launched a new phase of surveys on the EastMed pipeline.

Tsipras and Conte discussed the promotion of Italian investments in Greece, with emphasis on the Italian investment in TRAINOSE, while the prime minister briefed his Italian counterpart on the next steps regarding the expansion of Greece's territorial waters, especially in the Ionian Sea.

During his meeting with the head of the Italian government, Tsipras also the Greek positions on the management of refugee and migration flows and there was an exchange of views, while the two prime ministers also discussed developments in the eurozone.
