Tension at Klathmonos Square - Syntagma metro station closed due to rallies for Grigoropoulos
Tension erupted between young people and the police during a rally at Klathmonos Square held to mark the anniversary of the murder of 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos by a police special guard in the Athens district of Exarchia in 2008.
A group of young people hurled Molotov cocktails and stones against the police, which made use of chemicals.
Syntagma square metro station shut down at 12:00 noon on Thursday and trains will pass through the station without stopping, following police orders as a precautionary measure due to rallies to mark the anniversary of the murder of 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos by a police special guard in the Athens district of Exarchia in 2008.
