Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, at 21.00, at a critical time for Greece's foreign policy, especially as regards Greek-Turkish relations.

As Mitsotakis said on Monday in Tarpon Springs, Greece is the most reliable but also predictable ally of the U.S. within NATO.

According to government sources, the prime minister will underline to the U.S. president that Greece is a key factor for the stability of the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean. He will also emphasise that Greece has left the crisis behind it and makes an appealing investment choice.

On the Turkey-Libya "agreement", he will repeat that it is void, unacceptable and does not produce any legal effects.

He is also expected to stress that Greece will not accept any violation of its sovereign rights, as defined by international law.

The prime minister is visiting the White House at a time when, as he has pointed out, Greek-American relations are at their best. Both Congress's vote on the EastMed Act and the positions of the State Department, including the statements made by the U.S. ambassador in Athens Geoffrey Pyatt against the so-called Turkey-Libya deal, reinforce Greek positions, at a time when Turkey has been driven into total isolation.

Mitsotakis is also meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Tuesday at the Fund's headquarters in Washington.

Other meetings on his schedule include that with the leadership of the Atlantic Council Institute of Studies and his participation in a panel discussion with its vice president, Damon Wilson.
