He underlined that the government's priority is to support islands and specifically the primary sector through planning and the best use of CAP funds. He also suggested setting up cooperatives in order to reduce production costs and improve their negotiating power.

"Our priorities are to support the island's remote and disadvantaged areas, support the farmer's income, attract new farmers, protect the environment," he stressed.
