Medicane Ianos swirling over Ionian Sea, to bring heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday
The Medicane Ianos which was swirling over the central Ionian Sea early Friday and is expected to move towards the northwestern Peloponnese and then head south, according to the latest forecast by the Athens National Observatory's meteo weather service.
However, there is still relative uncertainty about the specific course the mediterranean hurricane will take.
Very high precipation levels are expected on Friday and Saturday and the parts of the Greece that will be mostly affected are the Ionian islands, the Peloponnese, Central Greece and southeastern Thessaly while the phenomena will be milder in Attica. The danger of flooding in the specific regions is very high for the next 24 hours, meteo said.
