"We are evaluating the situation day by day and soon, probably in the next few days, decisions are expected to be made regarding the opening of the market and the ways in which this will be done," Alternate Development and Investment, Nikos Papathanasis, said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) released on Sunday.
"We have absolute knowledge about what is happening in the market at all levels," he added.
"The primary concern of the government is the protection of public health. At the same time, however, it is the support of businesses and workers as the economic effects of the pandemic are not limited to the period during which the lockdown is in force," he said and added: "The government continues its reform work."
"Despite the unfavourable international environment until the second phase of the pandemic, which is obviously harder and more painful than the first one, Greece was in a phase of recovery compared to the second quarter. We are working intensively and creating the mechanisms so that the necessary funds can be absorbed very quickly," Papathanasis said reminding that, in addition to the 32 billion euros of the Recovery Fund, the country will have an additional 40 billion euros by the NSRF 2021 - 2022 as well as other funds.
Papathanasis also said that the government is planning actions to support small and medium enterprises in industry, actions to develop skills of human resources and actions of cooperative formations. A key role in this will be played by the aid schemes of the Development Law, and that is the reason why we are already reforming many time-consuming procedures.
