Greece-Saudi Arabia relations at their best-ever level, Smyrlis tells ANA

RIYADH (ANA/ D. Manolis) - The messages from the meetings held by the government and business mission in Saudi Arabia give "impetus for Saudi investments in Greece, for joint ventures between Greeks and Saudis and for an even greater strengthening of the exports of good-quality Greek products," the foreign ministry's Secretary General of International Economic Relations and President of Enterprise Greece, Ioannis Smyrlis, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Monday.

Smyrlis said that relations between the two countries are currently at their best-ever level. "This is evident from the great willingness of the Saudi side to have as many meetings as possible and to come and invest in Greece. We both want, the Greeks as well as the Saudis, to strengthen and consolidate our relationship with investments, agreements, collaborations," he noted.

He also gave a brief overview of the contacts that the Greek mission had in Riyadh:

"We are very happy that the [mission organised by] the ministry's General Secretariat of International Economic Relations with Enterprise Greece managed to bring 45 Greek companies to Riyadh, where more than 120 companies from Saudi Arabia came, more than 200 bilateral B2B business meetings took place and we had a very nice business forum, which confirmed the very good political relations between the two countries, which will be even more closely connected from now on via trade and economic relations. We talked about the creation of new funds between the two countries. We brought companies together in the fields of tourism, construction, shipping, technology, investment, export of agri-food products. We are very pleased that we can now follow-up and start to have practical results, which will further increase the important trade balance that the two countries have and will confirm the very good political relations," he stressed.
