Kikilias: Tourism is fuelling the Greek economy
"Tourism is fuelling the Greek economy. It fuels the middle Greek business and thus the middle class Greek family," Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias underlined at a meeting of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen, on Tuesday.
The minister highlighted the direct interconnection of the tourist product with all the sectors of the economic activity as well as the growth boost it gives to the local societies with the implementation of main infrastructure works and the attraction of significant investments.
"Nothing has happened automatically," Kikilias said stressing the importance of the ministry and the government's strategic choices for the extension of tht tourism period and the promotion of new destinations.
Especially for Athens, Kikilias referred to the need for a balanced development of the tourist product together with the other economic activities that will substantially contribute to the upgrading of the city and to the prosperity of its citizens.
