FM Dendias: We decide when and how we will respond to Turkish provocations
Turkey's disregard for the law, "which is part of the general spirit of revisionism and neo-Ottomanism that has recently characterised the Turkish stance," fully substantiates Greece's arguments, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said on Tuesday in an interview with Newsbomb.gr.
As had been shown in practice, Dendias pointed out, "the casus belli against Greece is not void of content, as our country faces a real threat from Turkey, which is not restricted to a rhetorical level. And this leaves Turkey irreparably exposed internationally."
However, Dendias clarified that "Greece responds calmly and does not succumb to the temptation to reply in the same way."
"We decide when and how we will respond to Turkish provocations. We do not indulge in a rhetorical confrontation, despite the constant Turkish provocations, which in most cases also have a personal aspect. We do not refer to persons," he added.
The foreign minister stressed that the recent letter of the Greek permanent representative to the UN, replying to the UN Secretary General regarding the alleged obligation to demilitarise the Aegean islands, is an example of such a cool-headed reaction.
