Tsipras' statements are hypocritical and false, Economou says
"The real cause of (SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis) Tsipras' anxiety is the fact that, despite the extremely difficult global situation, the government maintains very high levels of acceptance by society, as reflected in all polls," government spokersperson Yiannis Economou said on Thursday in reply to an interview of the main opposition leader.
"In the framework of defeat management, Tsipras deals exclusively with SYRIZA's internal affairs in order to consolidate his position," Economou added.
"His statements on the situation of the country are not only hypocritical, but also false. Because despite the difficulties faced by the Greek society due to the imported price spike, the government implements effective measures to support the citizens, provides tax reliefs, increases disposable income, creates jobs and shields the security of the country. Everyone remembers that Tsipras created a crisis that brought the country to the brink of disaster, while Mitsotakis effectively manages external crises, strengthening Greece," Economou underlined.
