Androulakis: Greeks feeling like strangers in their own country due to price hikes
Opposition PASOK-KINAL party leader Nikos Androulakis began an online meeting of his party's political council on Monday by referring to the current political climate and the speculation about early elections.
"We are getting ready for elections and we will be ready whenever they are declared. It is inconceivable for the prime minister to try, on the one hand, to strike a pose of respecting the institutions and stating the he go to the end of his four-year term, while on the other and preparing for elections," Androulakis said.
Referring to the escalation of Turkish provocativeness ahead of the NATO Summit, he underlined that a European deterrent plan was needed and not the appeasement of Turkey, pointing out that a weapons embargo should be imposed on Turkey.
On the price hikes and the problems Greeks currently face, he noted that this was "the first summer when, due to the high prices, Greeks will feel like strangers in their own country for a brief summer holiday. The cost of living is unaffordable in terms of everyday life, even summer holidays".
