Koutsoumbas: Government's mock-measures and opposition proposals can't fix cost-of-living crisis
Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Wednesday asserted that neither the government's mock-measures nor the proposals put forward by main opposition SYRIZA and other opposition parties can offer a solution to the problem of high prices.
According to KKE's leader, the problem was a result of a liberalisation of the energy market, the EU's green transition policy and the sanctions on Russia that all of them had supported and implemented.
With respect to action to counteract energy poverty, he stated that "a real improvement for the people would be the KKE amendment, which envisages the immediate abolition of the adjustment clause, of the special tax for the reduction of emissions, of indirect taxation of energy and of the Energy Exchange".
