Three arrested for smuggling 20 migrants in Evros
Twenty migrants without legal documents attempted to enter Greece over the past two days, aided by three smugglers who were arrested in areas of Evros.
In the first case, on Thursday morning, police in Evros arrested a foreign national who was transporting five migrants without documents in his private car. Later that day, on the Ormenio-Ardanio National Road, a Greek trafficker was arrested while driving a taxi carrying seven undocumented migrants.
On Friday afternoon, on a rural road in Evros, police arrested another foreign trafficker who was transporting eight undocumented migrants.
The three vehicles, along with the traffickers’ mobile phones, were confiscated. The arrested individuals will be brought before the competent prosecutors.
