Tsoukalas: Things are going from bad to worse
Main opposition PASOK–Movement for Change spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas, speaking on Athens 9.86 radio on Wednesday, said that the government has placed great emphasis on propaganda in order "to construct a narrative of a government that succeeds in the economy, reduces taxes, and has as its motto that it achieves in foreign policy 'what forty years of governments have not achieved,' " while in reality "things are going from bad to worse."
He stated that "the vast social majority sees that, although the country clearly has more potential than it did during the memoranda years, their lives do not improve in the slightest." He argued that "this is a deliberate choice by the government."
Regarding the 13th salary for public employees, he noted that "we cannot ask for a strong public sector and a state close to the citizen, playing a developmental and social role, while saying that these employees will be paid crumbs."
