Tsoukalas: Another four years of a Mitsotakis government would be 'destructive for society'
Another four years of a government led by current premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis could be "destructive for Greek society" and even national interests, main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas asserted on Tuesday, in an interview with the radio station Parapolitika 90.1.
"If there continues to be a government that squanders the country's potential, as does the Mitsotakis government, it will be a failure for society," Tsoukalas said, warning that the time to bring about political change "is not unlimited".
"One more four-year term with Mitsotakis could be truly destructive for society, the institutions and possibly national interests," he claimed.
Commenting on the resignation of former prime minister Alexis Tsipras as a SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MP, he said it was natural for the prospect of a new party by a former premier to receive heightened publicity but expressed doubts about its impact on potential PASOK voters.
"I do not believe that a personal narrative about the past can offer the solutions of the future. We must converse with the future, not the dead weights of the past, not with the agenda of the past," he added.
