Androulakis: Society is outraged by the cost of living
Androulakis then attacked the government's arguments, accusing it of resorting to lies in order to justify high prices, while adding that the people demand dignity.
"Society is outraged by the cost of living and the cost of production. It is outraged by you because you keep announcing half measures or mock measures, which do not solve any problem, as a result of which the daily life of citizens is becoming more difficult," main opposition leader Nikos Androulakis said on Friday in Parliament, in his question to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis over high prices.
The head of the PASOK-Movement for Change party emphasised the rapid increase in the cost of living by 34%, mainly in food, pointing out that half of all families were unable to afford vacations, noted the difficulties facing small and medium-sized businesses owners, who he said were "drowning due to debt and the cost of energy", as well as farmers contending with soaring production costs. "Your propaganda clashes with day-to-day reality," he added.
Androulakis then attacked the government's arguments, accusing it of resorting to lies in order to justify high prices, while adding that the people demand dignity. "That is why the only way forward is political change, which will give the people self-confidence, perspective and dignity that will overcome fear and insecurity," he noted.
