A presentation of the operation codenamed “Ipallos,” which led to the dismantling of a ring transporting a massive quantity of cocaine from Latin America to Europe, was held on Wednesday at the General Police Directorate of Attica, in the presence of Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis, and the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Mallios.

In his address, Chrisochoidis spoke of a “war operation against professional drug traffickers,” stating that the police "managed to take away from the drug dealers many tons of narcotics that were destined for Europe and would once again have spread poison among young people.”

“This is a very significant success that shows that, when united, we can achieve extremely important results that benefit societies, peoples, and countries,” he added.

Chrisochoidis pledged that the “war against drug dealers will continue, against criminals who, through international networks, form groups that engage in these illegal and heinous acts and behaviours.”

Subsequently, after congratulating all those who contributed to dismantling the ring, the Citizen Protection Minister emphasised: “Our commitment is that we will continue the fight, unwaveringly, against crime. We will be here to dismantle other criminal groups as well, to bring more accused criminals to justice, and to return to society the social and economic benefit it deserves.”
