Kikilias: Development, safety, and new jobs through investments in shipping

The Minister of Marritime Affairs and Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias, attended the signing of a contract for the construction of two tugboats at the shipyards of ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group, highlighting that the project constitutes a strategic investment in Greek shipping focused on development, safety, and job creation.

The contract was signed by the President and CEO of ONEX Panos Xenokostas, and the Director of Megatugs Salvage & Towage Pavlos Xyradakis, in the presence of the Ambassador of the US to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The agreement marks the first commercial tugboat shipbuilding project in Greece in many years and represents an important milestone in the revival of domestic shipbuilding activity. The project forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen Greek shipyards and reinforce Greece’s shipping sector.
