Shoigu: “If we don’t stop them now, there will be much blood”
Shortly after the "political" warnings of Vladimir Putin, who called the current interim rulers in Ukraine "junta" and "clique", because they turned the guns of the army against the people, Kremlin's "military" response manifested.
In an unusually detailed speech Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that according to Moscow's information in the so-called "anti-terror" operation in Eastern Ukraine more than 11,000 men are involved. Also 160 tanks, more than 230 armored personnel carriers, at least 150 units of artillery and mortars are utilized, as well as a significant number of air tools. According to the Russian Minister "against civilians are operating segments of the National Guard and the extremists of the right section, while a special battalion in Donbas was created".
Within the suppression of Kiev leadership towards Eastern Ukraine special forces of the Security Service of Ukraine and military departments of the Interior Ministry are used according to the Russian Defence Ministry, the head of which mentioned that "near the border with Russia flexible groups of saboteurs act". He added that "forces of the two sides are patently unmatched and that mandate for use of weapons against the civilians of the country has already been given". "If today we don't stop this war machine, it will cause a large number of dead and injured" he estimated without specifying exactly how he thinks Russia has to "stop" the Ukrainian war machine. Meanwhile he attacked NATO, which does not help to "stabilize the situation", but adds fuel to the fire with the exercises it proclaimed in the territory of Poland and the Baltic countries.
The answer perhaps lies in the complicated military jargon that followed, as the Russian Minister announced the start of military drills involving infantry and aviation units near the border with Ukraine, just a few dozen kilometers from the epicenter of the riots.
