Adonis recognized the problems
The extremely difficult situation in which the public hospitals are was recognized by Health Minister Adonis Georgiades, who instructed all hospital administrators and heads of Regional Health Authorities to fix all broken equipment and specific CT scanners.
His characteristic phrase was: "There are many who beat us and are right, as the impression that we work for private interests is created. We should solve this particular issue", at the beginning of the Scientific Conference "Contemporary Challenges for Hospitals", which was held at the Ministry of Health, in the presence of all the governors of health districts and hospitals. Of course, this assumption doesn't affect in any way the magnitude of the responsibility that lies with the Minister of Health for the situation in the health sector and for the care of the insured, which are forced to turn to the private sector. Because they know that there they might find the solution to the problem, since memorandum policies of Georgiades tore the public nature of hospitals and created even more problems with the new operators.
During his speech, Georgiades said in particular: "Today Barnabas said in an interview that by the end of July all hospitals will be closed. I hope to disappoint him by not closing all hospitals until the end of July. Just kidding... Well, you're a very good team, the first months of 2014 are going well, the difficulties apparently we all have under the conditions that you need to run hospitals and we you. Two things, first I want the greatest possible effort from each hospital to operate the CT scans and other machines of the hospital. And anything that is rotten to find a way to repair it. There are many who beat us and are right, as the impression that we work for private interests is created. We should solve this particular issue. How we will operate as far as possible all the machines we have. And those that are very old and could not operate, throw them away and begin the process to replace them or if it's possible reconstruct them. This is extremely important".
Regarding the other issues that the hospitals face, Georgiades said: "We will have our monthly meeting to present the results of each hospital in a week, as we have established. We will now see the issue of gaps created by staff and auxiliary and officials, what should be our priority to meet the actual needs of hospitals. Where there is really a need, I say for a second time. The coding progresses, we believe that in the coming months we will be at a very good point about being able to have full control of what is happening and to interoperate with the information systems of hospitals, particularly major issue in order to have the full image".
