A 49-year-old man drowned in Oraiokastro
One person was killed and another injured when during a storm the car they were riding in was swept by a rushing river in rural area of Drimos, in the municipality of Oraiokastro.
In the region of the municipality of Oraiokastro, (namely in Liti, Drimos and Melissochori), fell heavy rain from 21:30 Sunday.
Due to the storm, the streets were flooded and the Fire Department received fifty calls for pumping water from houses and shops.
Shortly before midnight the fire department was informed that a car had been drifted by the rushing river in rural area of Drimos.
In situ, rushed eight firefighters with four vehicles, who managed to extricate two people from the car.
At the hospital, was confirmed the death of the 49-year-old man and the injury of a 19 year old man, son of the deceased.
