The coins, seventy nine silver and one copper, dated between the 5th and the 2nd century BC are from the area of Macedonia and specifically from Halkidiki, and were confiscated by the Italian authorities in 2008.
The repatriation of the ancient coins is a result of the incessant and continuous actions of the Greek Culture Ministry in cooperation with the Italian authorities.
The handing over ceremony will take place in Turin and constitutes the first incident (from Italy) of implementation of the EU directive (93/7) which refers to the repatriation of smuggled antiquities.
