PM Tsipras: Unemployment drop confirms turn for the better in Greek economy

The drop in the unemployment rate to below 20% for the first time after 2011 confirms the Greek economy has turned the page for the better, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in a tweet on Friday.

"When we took over, Greece had a 27% unemployment rate," he noted referring to the ruling coalition, "and today it's at 19.5%. It's our duty to continue in a decisive, meticulous and persistent manner, with substantial interventions, by creating new job opening and by enforcing workers' bargaining power."

In his tweet, the premier uploaded the relevant chart for May 2018 by the Hellenic Statistical Authority.
