Prime Ministers Tsipras and Borisov sign joint declaration for new rail and road links

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov signed a joint declaration on Thursday, laying out all the steps and timetables for two important projects: the modernisation of the railway network connecting Thessaloniki to Kavala, Alexandroupolis, Burgas, and Ruse; and a new motorway to be built between Alexandroupolis and the Maritsa region on the Greek-Bulgarian border.

The declaration was signed during the Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia Quadrilateral Summit in Varna, Bulgaria.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu also attended the Summit and discussed with the four leaders present how Israeli businesses currently active in Thessaloniki can contribute to turning Thessaloniki into a centre of innovation for the Balkans.
