Greek enterprises lost 19.8 billion euros in turnover in Q2 due to the pandemic

Greek enterprises lost 19.8 billion in turnover in the second quarter of 2020 because of the pandemic and the lockdown, compared with the same period last year, Hellenic Statistical Authority said in a report on Friday.

The statistics service said that accumulated turnover in the April-June period totaled 58.987 billion euros, down 25.1 pct compared with the corresponding period in 2019 (78.800 billion). Enterprises in the hospitality sector and in the entertainment sector suffered the biggest percentage losses (78.8 pct and 53.2 pct, respectively), while civil administration, social insurance (0.5 pct) and agriculture/fishery (3.4 pct) recorded the smallest decline.

A total of 205,984 enterprises were on suspended operation in the second quarter of 2020, with their turnover dropping 55.9 pct from the same period last year (3.232 billion euros from 7.329 billion, respectively).
