Health Min. Kikilias responds to incident at infectious diseases professor's office

Members of the anarchist group Rouvikonas (Rubicon) burst into the office of infectious diseases doctor and University of Athens professor Eleni Giamarellou on Saturday to protest her statements on the coronavirus pandemic and on holy communion in the media.

Two men and four women entered her office criticizing her and taping the exchange with her before posting it online.

In a statement the group said her stance was unscientific and irresponsible to society, and expressed support for those in need.

Calling the incident "a despicable act of bullying and a fascist behavior," Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias referred to Giamarellou as "a leading scientist" and member of the ministry's committee on the novel coronavirus who "works daily from the start of the pandemic to manage the virus and protect public health."
