President Sakellaropoulou: Respect for the rules are the essence of democracy

President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Thursday spoke of a dark moment in American history, in a comment referring to Wednesday's events in Washington, and noted that respect for the rules was the essence of democracy.

In a post on Twitter, she wrote: "Respect for the rules is the essence of democracy. Yesterday's violence is a dark moment in American history and those who instigated it bear great responsibility. The duty of all should be the smooth transition to @JoeBiden's presidency. Leaders are the first to set an example".
