The masterplan for the restoration of Thessaly after the catastrophic floods caused by storm Daniel "is a first holistic attempt to manage the problem of Thessaly's water resources, which also touches on a number of important areas, such as the need for a more comprehensive planning of infrastructure projects," government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said during a press briefing on Tuesday.

He also referred to the "afternoon surgeries that are starting today with a view to reducing waiting times." Marinakis pointed out that "the capacity of the system with the afternoon surgeries is expected to increase by more than 20%."

On Tuesday, the first afternoon surgeries (five) will take place in Thessaloniki. On Thursday, March 14, the first afternoon surgery has been scheduled in Evangelismos hospital in Athens.

He also emphasised that "morning surgeries are not affected in any way. They will continue as usual. For this reason, it will be checked whether each clinic performs the same number of surgeries as it did before the start of afternoon surgeries."
