The modernization of the national health system, the improvement of the services provided to patients and the strengthening of the medical and nursing staff are key priorities for the government, which is why a series of renovations of hospitals and health centers is already underway with resources from the Recovery Fund, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said on Tuesday during a press briefing.

He added that 6,500 people will be recruited in 2024 in the national health system. In addition, there is a plan to upgrade the Emergency Response Ambulance Service (EKAB), which started already in the summer.

The government spokesman also said that more than 110,000 businesses have completed the process of connecting their cash registers to POS systems.

He also referred to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' trip to Canada.
