"I believe that we all felt pride at the arrival of the frigate 'Kimon' and its official integration into our Navy," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Thursday, in his statements during the welcoming ceremony.

"We have talked a lot about the operational capabilities of this ultra-modern ship. I will only focus on the fact that it is another link in a continuous effort to modernise the Armed Forces, both in terms of the means they have at their disposal and in terms of strengthening human resources, so that the deterrent capacity of our country is not questioned by anyone and our country can project its strength as a pole of stability and reliability in the Eastern Mediterranean with ever greater effectiveness," he underlined.

"The primary duty of every government, every political leadership - and allow me to speak personally - and myself as prime minister is to make the country more secure. And I believe that today we are taking a very important step in this direction," he added, while he referred to the three additional ultra-modern Belharra frigates that are to be added to the Hellenic Navy within the next 18 months.
