The findings were located after workers dug a hole that was just one metre deep. According to deputy mayor Thanassis Pappas “the working crews found traces of a Byzantine wall, a Byzantine grave and a small vessel, most likely dating back to the 14th century AD. A second grave, partially destroyed by underground utility networks, with a human skeleton in it, was also found”.
The works for the installation of underground waste containers are carried out in the presence of archaeologists.
