The Greek minister also appeared confident that the country's economy will show positive growth rates in the third quarter of 2014 and announced that Athens is planning to issue a seven-year bond in the near future.

According to a DPA despatch on the interview, Hardouvelis said the new seven-year bond seeks to offer investors a wider range of bond maturities and notes that Athens tested the waters by issuing a three-year bond in April and a five-year bond in July.

The minister appeared confident that Greece will be able to borrow on tolerable terms and at lower interest rates than those charged by the International Monetary Fund, DPA said.

He also welcomed a planned European Central Bank ABS-purchase programme as a means to create necessary liquidity, noting that "one monetary policy for all cannot work".
