Young Albanian arrested for allegedly stealing 10 tonnes of lemons since June
An Albanian youth was arrested for 17 alleged raids on lemon orchards in western Corinth prefecture amounting to a total theft of 10 tonnes, according to police.
His father, 49, was also arrested for lack of supervision, while another two people of Greek nationality are involved for allegedly receiving and distributing stolen goods.
The youth removed 250 kilos of lemons from an orchard at Ano Diminio village on Saturday morning and loaded them on a vehicle. Police found him the same afternoon and arrested him, confiscating the vehicle.
After investigation and cross-checking, Police at Kiato in eastern Peloponnese concluded that the same youth had carried out another 16 thefts in the greater area of the towns of Sikyonies and Xylokastro-Evrostini from June to the present, removing a total of over 10 tonnes of lemons worth over 10,000 euros and selling them to the two Greeks.
All four were led to the prosecutor of Corinth, who referred them to the Corinth investigating magistrate.
