Employees of "Henry Dunant" Hospital: "We will not accept layoffs"

The employees of "Henry Dunant" Hospital stay firmly on their view, regardless of whether the hospital went -through ... an auction and a government's "gift"- in private hands. And their view is clear: "all employees to be ensured, even name by name."

This is the statement of the president of the Association of Employees to the “Henry Dunant” Hospital, Mr. Kon. Kretsis, to the www.onmed.gr, who commented the developments after the auction on Wednesday and the transfer of the hospital to “HEMITHEA SA”, which according to press reports is allegedly linked with Piraeus Bank.

The auctioning of the building was announced long ago, says Mr. Kretsis, adding that "we, employees, we stand and we push in order not to lose a single job. We will not accept layoffs, our position is clear and unequivocal," he says and adds: "For this reason, we urge the new administration to ensure our jobs."

Mr. Kretsis, like the other workers, is waiting anxiously to meet with the new management of HEMITHEA SA, because he does not know details about who are behind the company which suddenly appeared with ... a check of 115 million Euros, in order to buy via auction the "Henry Dunant" Hospital.

Regarding economic issues, Mr. Kretsis says that since last April, the workers are paid normally (from Piraeus Bank) but there are arrears of two years (2012 and 2013).

Today at the Henry Dunant Hospital working about 1040 people, of which about 180-200 are doctors. Their concern has to do with possible loss of their jobs, because there are already rampant rumors about a possible merger with "Hygeia" Hospital.
