SYRIZA says foreign ministry 'lacks responsible stance' on Middle East crisis
The foreign policy sector of main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) on Friday lashed out at the government for an armaments shipment sent to Kurds in Iraq, alleging that the foreign ministry has no responsible stance on the Middle East crisis.
SYRIZA condemned the move, saying that the country is acting in line with the designs that Western powers have for the Middle East. If Western interest in the humanitarian disaster were genuine, it added, similar action would have been taken for the Kurdish forces in Syria where a humanitarian disaster is forcing 150,000 refugees to move to Turkey.
SYRIZA also wondered why this mobilisation on behalf Greece is limited only to military support and not to diplomatic initiatives or the supply of humanitarian aid.
“The lack of a responsible stance on behalf of the foreign ministry continues, despite the bitter lessons that apparently were not learned,” SYRIZA underlined.
