Gkolomeev takes silver in Glascow

Greece's participation in the 2018 European Aquatics Championships in Glasgow finished off on a high note for Greece on Thursday with swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev winning a silver medal in the 50 meter free final.

With a time of 21.44, he broke his own record that he set in Glasgow at the semi finals on Wednesday. Gkolomev finished behind Ben Proud of Great Britain and ahead of Andrea Vergani from Italy.

The 25-year-old broke his run of fourth places (in five European championships) to give Greece its second medal in Glasgow after Apostolos Christou had taken third place at the 100m backstroke earlier this week.
