Greek-Russian Business Council meets in Athens to discuss exports
The Greek-Russian Business Council met at the offices of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) on Wednesday to discuss exports between the two countries.Talks focused on the energy, metallurgy and financial sectors.
According to data presented at the meeting, Greek exports to Russia rose by 8.8 pct in 2017 compared to 2016, totalling 234 million euros. Imports from Russia also increased, by 20.5 pct, totalling 3.42 billion euros. Russia accounts for 6.8 pct of all imports to Greece.
Products exported by Greece to Russia include fur clothing (23.6 pct of total exports), petroleum-based oils (10.9 pct), copper pipes (5.8 pct), electrical communication devices (5.2 pct) and unprocessed tobacco (4.1 pct).
Conversely, Russian imports in Greece mostly comprise petroleum products (81.3 pct of total Russian imports), followed by unprocessed aluminium (11.4 pct) and copper (2.2 pct).
Welcoming remarks at the meeting were also delivered by Greek Secretary General for Strategic and Private Investments Lois Lambrianidis and Russian Federation Ambassador in Greece Andrey Maslov.
