Greek stocks lost 7.45 pct in October
Greek stocks ended slightly higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The market lost 7.45 pct, or 3.7 billion euros from its capitalization, in October.
The general index rose 0.55 pct to end at 640.15 points, off the day’s highs of 643.05 points. The Large Cap index rose 0.94 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.14 pct lower. Turnover was 66.115 million euros in volume of 30,506,964 shares. GEK Terna (5.29 pct), Sarantis (2.93 pct) and Mytilineos (2.76 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Motor Oil (4.57 pct), Fourlis (3.35 pct) and ADMIE (1.94 pct) suffered heavy losses.
Among market sectors, Commerce (3.20 pct) and Food (2.41 pct) scored gains, while Oil (3.50 pct) and Personal Products (0.72 pct) suffered losses. Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 58 to 37 with another 30 issues unchanged. Audiovisual (9.57 pct), Fieratex (7.69 pct) and Nakas (5.63 pct) were top gainers, while AEGEK (19.54 pct), Forthnet (16.93 pct) and Viokarpet (9.84 pct) were top losers.
