The Prespes Agreement puts an end to a long-standing issue, parliament president Voutsis says
"The Greek Parliament, just a few days ago, completed all the procedures required so that the Prespes Agreement puts an end to a long-standing issue that deprived international and regional 'capital' for Greece and the wider region of the Balkans," Parliament President Nikos Voutsis said on Monday.
Speaking at the opening of the first meeting of the Parliaments of Cyprus, Greece, Egypt, meeting in Nicosia, Voutsis underlined that Greece "gave an example, at an international level, of courage and consistent defense of the national rights against the policy and the culture of stagnation, introversion and scaremongering in international relations. "
The meeting will focus on three cooperation fields: energy, tourism and culture.
Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, belong to a sensitive, international, wider area, where over time - especially in recent years - there are multiple high risk and destabilization issues with obviously negative consequences on the people's survival and the increase of the refugee flows.
"Greece, with consistency and realism, is politically investing in the emergence of a new security architecture in the Eastern Mediterranean and Southeastern Europe through dialogue and synergies," Voutsis said and added that the objective of consolidating peace, stability and growth serve the tripartite partnerships that have been developed - with particular dynamics and characteristics - in the Eastern Mediterranean.
