In its second enhanced surveillance report on Greece to be issued on Wednesday, the European Commission is expected to send a message to Athens to speed up completion of pending reforms before the Eurogroup meeting on March 11, in order to get a green light for the disbursement of a 1.0-billion-euro tranche of returned profits on Greek bonds.

According to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) sources, the institutions will point out that since last November Greece has shown progress in all reforms, mostly in the last weeks, however some commitments have not yet been met. These commitments include those relating to non-performing loans, the staffing of the Independent Revenues Authority, the payment of arrears, privatisations and others.

The disbursement of the 1.0-billion-euro tranche arising from the return of profits made by European central banks from Greek bonds (ANFAs-SMPs) depends on the progress in the implementation of reforms in Greece, as provided in the agreement. The decision for the disbursment will be made at the Eurogroup meeting on March 11, which will based on the institutions' second report under post-programme enhanced surveillance, which is due to be released on Wednesday.

European Commissioner Pierre Moscovici, European Commision's Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis and the European Commissioner for Labour and Social Affairs Marianne Thyssen are expected to present the results of the reports at a joint press conference at 13:00 (Athens time).
