At least 75 mln euros to the State coffers through agreement between State and ship owners

At least 75 million euros per year will flow into the state coffers with the new arbitration agreement between the Greek State and the Shipping Community that was signed during Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' meeting with the board of the Greek Union of Shipowners on Wednesday at the Maximos Mansion.

According to the new agreement "the payment of a sum equivalent to 10 pct of the imported dividends of the members of the union becomes permanent," said the prime minister's press office, adding that the "signing of the agreement was the result of a lengthy negotiation".

Tsipras noted that "10 pct is an important agreement," adding that it is a sign that "all understand the sense of collective responsibility of the effort to exit the crisis".

During the meeting, attended by Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Shipping Minister Fotis Kouvelis and Minister to the Prime Minister Dimitris Liakos, Tsipras called on the members of the union to contribute with investments to the strengthening of the Greek economy's growth, which after years of recession is in a phase of dynamic recovery.
