A Volos court ruled on Wednesday to turn down a new furlough the jailed November 17 terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas had requested because "there is the danger that he will commit new crimes", according to the Volos judicial council announcement.

In addition, the announcement stated that despite the fact that he has been granted 6 furloughs to this date, Koufodinas does not meet the requirements as he is serving a multiple life sentence. At the same time Koufodinas has not shown any signs of remorse for his murders. On the contrary, his behaviour is that of "an individual that abhors the law steadily and in practive."

Responding to the ruling, Koufodinas' lawyer Ioanna Kourtovik stated that the decision is based on an unprecedented interpretation of article 55 of the penal code.
