The wildfire on the island of Elafonissos that broke out on Saturday at the area of Simos rekindled on Sunday.
The camping at Simos and the settlement Panagia were evacuated for precautionary reasons.
The general secretary of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias and a fire brigade's rescue team are going to the island while the region of Peloponnese sent additional firefighting forces to the island.
Currently, 19 fire-engines with a 90-member crew, 3 Canadair aircraft, 3 PZL firefighting aircraft and 4 water dropping helicopters are operating on the island.
According to the Fire Brigade, the blaze was set under control on Saturday but it continued to burn at a place with piles of garbage.
Due to the strong winds blowing in the area on Sunday, the fire rekindled and the condition on the island is very difficult mostly because of the dense smoke.
