Gov't expects second wave of charge reductions by systemic banks, Georgiadis says
"Three systemic banks today and the fourth one on Monday will announce not only the suspension of planned charges on banking services but also reductions to charges already introduced," Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Friday.
In comments made to Antenna TV, the Greek minister said this will be the first wave of reductions. "We are in talks (with banks) and there will be a second wave of charge reductions in November," he noted, adding that the Prime Minister has asked banks to present a wide programme of support for consistent borrowers. Georgiadis said that already one systemic bank has introduced such a programme and expressed his belief that the other three will follow through.
