Health Min Kikilias attends unofficial EU health ministers' meeting on WHO reform
Ηealth Minister Vassilis Kikilias on Friday took part in an unofficial meeting of European Union health ministers to discuss the reform of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The meeting that was held via video conference with the participation of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and European Commissioner for Health, Stella Kyriakidou.
Kikilias said that the WHO is a leading global organisation in health, noting that the EU has an obligation to play a leading role in the reforms linked with COVID-19, as well as in important issues such as climate change and migration.
As he said, "the migration issue is a challenge for the EU due to the pressure at the European borders".
Concluding, he said that WHO's Europe office should become the spearhead of the reforms, based on close cooperation with Europe and the European Commission.
