State of emergency declared on Hydra due to water and electricity outages
A state of emergency has been declared on the island of Hydra since the island has been without electricity and water since 5:30 on Sunday morning.
Despite continued efforts, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE) has not yet found the cause of the blackout and announced that two generators that will temporarily supply the island have been loaded onto a ship that would set sail from Galata and arrive in Hydra on Monday morning. According to DEDDIE, technical difficulties prevented the generators from being loaded onto the ship during the night, while it apologised to consumers for any inconvenience caused.
The water supply problem is being solved with the help of a Greek Navy tanker that brought water to the island on Monday.
