"The thing that I take away from opinion polls is not the [difference between the parties] but that the main criterion for the vote is the economy," stated main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the sidelines of the ceremony for the appointment of the party's new spokesperson, Sofia Zacharaki, on Friday.
On May 26, voters will deliver their judgement on who the people trust more to bring investments and to create new jobs. If the prime minister believes he will find support among the undecided then he should call general elections right away, stated Mitsotakis.
The ND leader thanked former spokesperson Maria Spyraki for the impeccable, as he said, way she carried out her duties and wished her good luck in her efforts to be elected to the European parliament.
He also wished good luck and strength to Sofia Zacharaki and expressed his certainty she will do very well. "We are an open party that rewards and gives opportunities to young people," he said.
